AIMS
It aims to discover the overlooked, the liminal and the forgotten in a sparsely populated Italian hilltop village, Picinisco . The residency would like to draw on the rich historical past of the village as a source for inspiration. The main aim of the residency is to discover connections between the past, present and the future of the village so as to encourage regeneration.
LEARNING
We engage artists to produce work in innovative ways
The location provides artists with abundant resources to ground their research and practice, for example the village, the mountains, the pastures and the people. A Europewide jury will operate the selection of the artists based on their project proposal.
SUPPORT
Engaging with local archives
By looking at village life and all the different aspects of its Ecosystems – Energy, water, nutrients and nature and looking in more detail at the villages main characteristics including dwelling, social spaces, rituals, food production, animals, fauna and green spaces, we invite participants to investigate different aspects of village life each year.
“autobiography becomes topography; the space of the life becomes the life of the space”.
